Knife Rebuild

Ok got the picture to work I think.
I found this knife lately my brother gave me years ago. It's rather heavy in the handle and I don't like the feel and balance. I would like to put a lighter plain handle as I want to use this as an emergency-utility carry while I'm trapping. I'm not sure how to take it apart. There seems to nut of some kind on the end to hold it all together. Any ideas?
Thanks

It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

That brass nut should turn right off. BUT, the tang may have been peened over after it was assembled. Once that nut is off it should just all slide apart.
