Coal forge blower
« on: February 04, 2018, 10:56:00 AM »
So I've decided to upgrade my brake drum forge that I ran with a hair dryer duct taped to it for an air source. I built my table last fall, along with a 10x12 fire pot and tuyere, but I'm having trouble deciding on a blower.

In the past I've used homemade charcoal and wood, but I'd like to try coal, which from what I've read requires more air.

I'm leaning towards a hand crank blower, but options are limited to somewhat expensive antiques and imports of questionable quality.

Does anyone have any experience with these Indian imports? The green "zomax" model looks like the best built of the bunch.

Or should I just go with an electric blower? If so what kind of specs are ideal?

I'm interested in this as well. I just got my brake drum forge out again last week and I would like to build something a little larger myself.
