Kansas Giant Down!
« on: September 29, 2008, 10:56:00 PM »
Sat. Sept. 27.  This was a 13 yd shot, complete pass-thru, and a 20 yd recovery.  I'm shooting my 45# Greatree Volcano, until my Chekmate arrives.  I used a 4-blade 125 grain Magnus Stinger with 50 gr brass insert in a GoldTip Traditional 3555.

Okay, so maybe he's not that big.  But he'll taste great!  I thought it was a young doe-- couldn't make out the buttons.     "[dntthnk]"      I did see a 150 class 10 point this same evening, but only from a distance.

My first deer was taken with a Red Wing Hunter in 1995 that my father gave me-- he's a trad-only bowhunter.  I switched to a compound for the last 13 years with great success.  I reverted back to the obsession of stickbow hunting this year, and don't see putting the training wheels back on any time soon.  He may not be the biggest deer I've taken with an arrow, but I couldn't be more proud.    :D

BTW, those welts on my arms and neck are mosquito bites.  I ordered a Thermacell today!

Great day...!  Be proud-that's a trad deer. It does not get any better. Congrats.
