wood arrow question

On the point end of wood arrows, do you stain & polyurethane the taper. Will this interfere with the bond when using hot melt glue.

Scrape the point taper before gluing.

I stain and poly on full length arrows. Cut and taper afterwards. If bare wood is not covered, you can touch if stained.

I was wondering the same thing.

It seems if you do the tapering before the staining and all you would get a better seal on the wood.  Then you could put a rough sand on it before gluing couldn't you?

I use fletch tape, works great and fast and add a touch of fletch tite glue to both ends of fletch.
Some just use fletch tite glue.

GG, Duco is the bomb on poly if you want glue.  Fletch Tape works well also.

Run a tap into the ferrule of your points and a die onto the point taper.  Also clean out the ferrule with acetone or carb cleaner.  Makes a very good bond.
