neat experience bunny stumping
« on: February 04, 2008, 06:25:00 PM »
Went for a short bunny stumping outing this afternoon and had a neat experience.  As I was walking along an abandoned road not far from my truck I noticed a bobcat print crossing my path and made a mental note to check them out on my way back.  When I returned to my truck an hour and a half later the prints came back on to the road and followed my original prints for a little bit.  The bunny stalker being stalked?  Cool.

Now you have to ask yourself next time you're walking into the dark woods:

How many bobcats would it take to pull a man down?!
   :scared:

When I was a little whipper-snapper thats what my uncles used to tell me before walking out to my treestand - only in Illinois it was coyotes.   :D

Sounds like a great day in the woods!

Yea, I ain't afraid of much but those big hairy things have my respect. I'm in Grover south of the hole Jackson and yes i met it that way. Sure had a great time out there and you can count on it this year... maybe Bear this time. And leave work early so we can spread good yarns at the fire. Be talking to ya brother. Slo Guy???  Your the only guy i know who can walk five miles straight up in four hours and not break a sweat. Next time tie those elk up down low, Walk in beauty.          Vic

Something like that happened to a buddy and I one time on a squirel hunt.  Walking back down the dirt road later in the afternoon we saw mt. lion prints over our boot tracks.  I looked at our .22rf short rifles and told my buddy that we needed bigger stuff.
Not sure how I'd react if I had my longbow in hand... probably about the same since I'd be carrying blunts in the quiver.

Sounds like you were in his home territory...Bobs are cool.

I've been surprised by more than one calling coyotes, nothing like screaming like a dying rabbit and you notice a bobcat sitting under 15 yards staring at ya...sneaky lil buggers.

Stupid me wanted to call in some coyotes - so up north in Wisconsin I am sitting with my model 67 single shot .22 and blowing on a distressed rabbit call - only to find huge wolf tracks walking out in the dark - that like above cut my trail in. Scary stuff.
