Oak ok for a TD Riser

I have a bunch of solid oad 4x4 aound. Can oak be used as a good TD riser material. At the very least I could use it to practice before I try my first bow.

RVSwisher oak can be used for a take down riser I use it alot because I can get it real cheap.
