How to figure pounds on a selfbow

I've recently made my first selfbow and want to know how many pounds it has on it. How would I go about doing this??? Thanks Brandon

Brandon, If you have a bathroom scale(not digital) you can use a tiller stick(with draw length in inches marked on it) with the scale to check your draw weight. Put the tiller stick on the scale with your bow hanging by the string from it. Pull down on the handle to your draw length and look at the scale. That should be close to your draw weight.   Pat

On my tillering board it has a deer scale attachs to the string on the bow.It has a small block and tackle used to lift deer.Attached to the floor up to scale which is attached to the string on the bow.You can stand back pull your string go down to your draw leanth.Has a yard stick attached to my tillering board.This way you can get the draw leanth the weight and see your tiller all at the same time.

I use a hand held bow scale hooked to a pulley.  The pulley is attached near the floor and I stand back a bit and look at the tiller while looking at the weight at the same time.  Keeps me from overdrawing the bow during tillering.
