questions on Owl bows

I was pre stretching a new string and put a couple chips in the finish. Should I put a dab of nail polish on them and just water proof with a min wax or just min wax over it and keep shooting??? I also had probs tuning and fixed that- I ended up shooting birch shafts 29 and 30" bop from my 50 lb @ 25" - the arrows are 50 55 should I try going to say a 35 40 grn arrow and make them at 26" bop or would they be too light for elk and deer??? Should I just stay where I am at and keep shooting? Happy new year

Just wax your dings. There is nothing "wrong" with shooting your long arrows for good flight-If you want shorter you will need to drop down in spine as you have guessed. As for final weight of the arrows-that will vary-it is quite possible to get heavy arrows in low spines-hardwood shafting and Douglas Fir are the likely materials.

I cut all my arrows to 29" for my 26" draw. Having a bit of arrow out past the handle at full draw won't cause any problems unless your arrows aren't spined correctly for the bow.   Pat

You might contact Ed Scott of Owl Bows to see what type of finish he puts on his bows. If it is Tru-oil you can cover any dings easily with a perfect match.

There was a 30 min video segment of Ed making bows that showed the finish he used but I couldn't find it. It was from a traditional archery TV show from Ky and available on line.
