I've been bitten by the self bow bug, and love the look of pyramid bows.  I love the way the limbs flare out over the handle! Any reason you can't do that with osage? Haven't gotten hold of a stave yet, but I'm looking, so any input would be great, thanks....

Osage can make a fine pyramid bow. I wouldn't go over about 1 3/4" at the fades and maybe even less so you won't have a very pronounced flare at the fades. The narrow tips are perfect for osage.
I prefer to decide on a design after I study a stave. Because of the characteristics of the wood itself, some bow designs aren't appropriate for some staves.  You have to be as flexible as the wood when making wood bows.       Pat
