On my hickory bow I left a thin layer of the cambium that's right under the bark. It gives the back a kinda natural camo look. I was wondering if I could coat the back with super glue. Does super glue bend well? Is there something that would work better. Would like to have it clear. Thanks, Paul<><

You could do it but it won't help much as far as a true backing.  It really has no tension strength on it's own.  I suppose it could hold down a splinter if one is already there.  Some folks use it as their finish though.

Its a good clear finish.I think on woods such as osage its not a true backing but it stops splinters from riseing.

I would use something different. The cambium may get brittle on it's one when dry and the super glue might add to that.
There was an article in an old PA magazine about using hickory cambium as a backing. I have thought of trying it but haven't yet. I know hickory bark doesn't work. It will crack when stressed. I have however used traces of cambium left on the back of a hickory bow as a camo.
