Bamboo Question????
« on: March 22, 2009, 11:34:00 PM »
What diameter bamboo is needed for making bow backing or lams for that matter? I've been noticing alot of it by the roadside lately and was wondering how big it needed to be? Thanks

It would depend on your bow design. For backings most use boo from timber bamboo that is between 4" and 6" in diameter. You can build a 1" wide bow and use boo that is 2" to 3" in diameter.
Make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes!

Thanks, Pat. Most of what I have seen around here is in the 3" diameter range max. I think I know a place that may have some a little bigger...I may try to get some to play around with...

Thanks Again, David
