Here's a side view of the clamp screwed onto limb ready to string up.

I hope this helps. Let me know if there is something else you need to know. If I can't answer it I will confide in my "bow guru"! Thanks to Steve this has become one more passion that has been fun and a good way to share time in "the shop".

It looks to me like your deflax stops at the belly side of riser and then the limb is in ever increasing reflex and then serious recurve. In short, you have a very radical limb. you may have to work very hard to keep it tamed.
Keeping it wider longer will help but You are asking alot of foarce to behave proper for you. Thanks for sharing and good luck. that riser looks sweet. Chuck

Also the limb pads must be absolutely square with the sides of the riser or your tips will be off.

recurvebreaker....ur limbs a ver close to a horn bow
shape. I think what u might need are string blocks. they are small blocks of lwather or wood set on the
limbs about 4 or 5 inches in from the tip. The string rides on it in a shallow grove. ikt keeps
the string straight and also keeps the limbs
from twisting. before u do anything else give them a
try. The ancient horse archers used them.

I learned to tiller a bow and get the twist out by watching a copy of the old Black Widow "Tour and tunning video."  I strongly recommend getting a copy of your own.  They gave away alot of secrets during their factory tour. The Black Widow limbs of the day were very  narrow for high performance and needed to be ground and tillered perfectly.

Black widow used to give a copy away with a bow purchase.  Ron Waterman's TV show "Ozark sportsman" did the filming for the factory tour and a segment on setting up and tunning.  This was back in the 90's.  Honestly I don't know if they still offer it.  I know that they produce their bows useing CNC machines for some of the work so the factory tour part of the Tour and tunning video would be quite dated.  Maybe someone else out their knows if the video is still for sale by Black widow or if it has changed.

I must add that even though I make my own bows.  Black widow would be my first choice If I didn't.  Ken Beck made a real effort to introduce his team as well as show off the quality of workmanship put into Black Widow bows, when he teamed up with Ron Waterman and made this video.  I've met and talked to Ken a few times over the years and feel like we are all blessed to have guys like him that keep the bar raised.

So if you read this Ken....Thanks for the education.

LPM, I agree. I ave enjoyed many a visit with Ken over the years and he is a fine man. Toby and the boys are doing him proud I think. They do keep that bar pretty high don't they.

snag, when you put your tillering blocks on are you doing it after the limb is cut to actual length? When my limbs come out of my press they are actually a little longer than I need. Also what is the width of your tillering blocks?

I cut the limbs to length and then use the block. The block was designed and made for the man that is teaching me. I forget what the width is..

Ok last stupid question, How do you string the bow since you can't use a bow stringer?
