What next?
« on: May 12, 2009, 01:12:00 PM »
I want to start building bows, no later than this fall. I have in my possesion a table saw, and a upright bandsaw, also I am about half way through Vol. 1 Bowyers bible. I still have 2&3 to read.
I will read the books at least twice each so that as much will sink in as possible. My question what sander? I dont have but about another 150.00 to spend. any suggestions? Oh I forgot to mention I will build self bows this summer, so as to get a working knowledge and get as many mistakes out of the way as I can.
Thanks in advance.

A 4X36 table top belt sander would be my choice.  I built quite a few bows on mine before I moved up to a 6X48.  Now I want one of those 80" edge sanders!  :)

Hey Holepuncher -

There is a Po-Boy Build-along somewhere on this site.  Just so you see some options.

I am a very contented (although poorly skilled) powyer and the most expensive thing i bought was a $50 drawknife.  worth every penny.  The rest (rasp, vise, etc) were all used garagesale tools.

$150 should make a TON of bows.

enjoy the journey
