Cedar question

I have a few small cedars on my farm and been thinking about cutting one down for a bow build. I was wondering how long should I let it dry or how do you tell when it is dry enough? Probably gonna back it with bamboo. Thanks for the help!

Thats great, I have always had a thing for cedar, just didn't know if it was good for bow building. Maybe we'll both learn something!

I have built one Bamboo backed juniper, and I let the stave dry for close to a year. So I'm no expert on this. But I think if you were to cut the stave down to near bow demensions, the stave would be dry in a few months depending on where it's kept, someplace cool and dry. I wouldn't dry ir too fast.
