New Trad-hunter needs info

Hey guys....new to the site, have been watching for some time. I've been shooting a longbow for two years now and I will be hunting with it this next season. I have tons of questions and will be asking many from you guys that have all the experience. What kind of maintenance should I do on my longbow? Is there any type of polishing or waxing that needs to be done? Should I unstring the bow after every time I shoot? Any info and tips you can give me will be greatly appreciated. By the way I'm shooting 60# @ 28 and drawing to about 30. Thanks.

Welcome Leef
I'm a big boy (6'3") myself, but I only get about 29" max. At your 30" draw you are probably actually pulling about 66# on that bow. Longer draw also equals longer arrows, and that and the higher weight will both affect the proper arrow spine to use for your bow. Make sure you take both factors into account when selecting arrows.

Whip pretty much covered it. Sometimes I'll buff a light coat of Johnson's polish on just to clean the bow up a bit.
As for stringing, if you're shooting it regularly, leave it strung unless it's a self or all wood bow.
