When applying snake skins on a finished glass laminated bow,is it necessary to sand all the finish off the back of the limbs or do I just need to rough it up some and clean it with acetone?

Yep just a lite sanding with 120 grit, and I wouldn't use acetone, mineral spirits or alcohol will do.
