osage self bow
« on: May 27, 2009, 11:23:00 PM »
First try at a self bow. Started bow at O-Jam '09. It pulls 60# @ 28". A little to heavy for me so I am taking it to Mo-Jam to lighten it up to about 51# to 54#. after that I will apply more Tru-oil and a hand wrap and its ready for bow season!!

Very nice for your first bow or your 20th. Is that a turkey spur arrow rest and how well does it work. Looks like it might bind the arrow a little.

Thanks guys! The arrow rest is the tip of antler and the arrow just sits on top, haven't had any problems with binding. It has been a fun project, can't wait to start another!!

Man, there must be some good tutoring at mo-jam.  Every bow that comes out of there and tenn shoot looks good.

Beautiful bow! My only suggestion is to change your arrow rest a little so it won't trap the arrow next to your riser. With selfbows an arrow needs to bend outward during paradox and your antler tip may prevent this.
