A few of my bows, to introduce myself
« on: June 15, 2009, 11:07:00 AM »
Hey!

I've visited this place quite often, but I thought I'd sign up. I'm quite active in primitive bow forums, but my interest in glass bows and the amazing ones you guys make, made it pretty easy to convince myself to sign up  ;)

About myself, I'm Nick, a 16 year old guy from the Netherlands, still in school but planning to join the dutch Marines after university. I've made exactly 30 bows so far, including many testbows, unfinished bows, 'unserious bows'. The latest bows are mostly laminates, both BBI's and BBM (massaranduba). I prefer the first combination, since I had a terrible compression crack on a 130# warbow.

the bows in these pics are warbows varying from 90-130#@32", and a 70#@29" pyramid.

hope you like 'em  ;)

Those are some great bows Nick!  You certainly have talent at a young age, and I think that's awesome.

I have a 16 year old son named Nick!  :)

thanks Guys!

colt,
I would love to see what I'd do with glass either  ;)  Haven't found a good supplier yet, though. Gotto do some research. However, I'm getting boo, ipé and maple(cores) for over 20 bows within a months  :)  I'll be pretty broke after, so the glass may take a while. But I'll certainly crank lots of bows out  :)

mounter, I've been lifting weights for almost 2 years, but I don't think It was a major benefit, it's more about technique and specific muscletraining (just drawing heavy bows often  :p )

thanks Marty! you're kidding me right? such a coincidence  :p

No kidding Nick!  He's a musician though, and has no interest in bows, or hunting.

I watched a video of nick shooting that is pretty cool.He does not look very big, but he works that heavy bow over without much stuggle. shoot, I should say NO struggle.
Some sweet looking bow Nick, keep at it.

Hey Nick,

Nice bows you made there. I joined some years ago and have posted several topics amongst some of my R/D bows.

PLEASE resize your pics to 640 pixels wide...they are WAY oversized at the moment.

Thanks!

Nice looking bows, Nick. I like all wood bows too. Planning to join the Marines? I worked with some really excellent units from there, very well trained. I did some insertion and extractions with 7th SBS while up in Norway. Lots of fun!
Good luck to you!

Nick, very nice work it is apparent that you have learned a great deal in short time. Good luck in the Marines after school. By the way, what are you using for arrows, length, wood, weight, fletch and such?
