55# ash holmegaard-fulldraw added
« on: July 18, 2009, 04:36:00 PM »
I made this a while ago and managed to finish it yesterday. It draws a nice 55# @ 28", shooting it close to the 60s at my 29" draw.

it only got an inch of stringfollow, started as 1/2" from the stave. The widest part is close to 2", and ít measures 67" between the nocks.

many bowyers tend to call every bow with narrow, eiffeled outterlimbs a holmegaard, even though the extremer ones are closer to a mollegabet than a holmegaard. In addition, these narrow outter-limbs are often made way too thick, wich reduces the special holmegaard/mollegabet effect of lightweight levers. I tried to make them as lightweight as possible, at a normal width of 3/8" at the nocks.

this is a modern version of a 'real' holmegaard. I loved working at this one, the thin-ringed ash is a pleasure to work with, and the rings just invite you to play with them. Hope you like it   ;)

Still gotto get my fulldraw, no succes yet. It'll come, soon   ;)

Nice! How deep do those string nocks cut into the tip of the bow? Love the grain pattern of those fadeouts.

Nice Holmegaard, Nick and the toasted ash looks cool.  Do you have a pic or example of the Mollegabet bow? I haven't heard of that style.

Thats what I want to see too Pat, Thats a new one on me. Nick, That is a great looking bow. I have only made a few so far but they are some awesome shooters. I think that design really lends it self to carful tillering and as you said keeping the tips light. That looks sweet, good job.

thanks steve! they're like 3/16" deep. I guess   :p

thankyou pat! The growrings are pretty typical for Ash, a bit of a toast makes it look even better, imo   ;)

thanks you Chuck! Carefull tillering indeed   :)   glad you like it   ;)

Pat, chuck, I suggest you read this topic. I hope admins won't mind me posting the link.

Holmegaards didn't really have the pronounced shoulders, nor were the outterlimbs very stiff. The mollegabet however had really narrow, deep, shouldered outterlimbs. I found this picture in the same topic;
