Overlay Thickness?
« on: August 14, 2009, 11:34:00 PM »
Going to glue up my first composite longbow tomorrow. Plan on adding some overlays to the back and belly, probably 3 or 4 layers of alternating woods and was wondering how thick you would generally cut the individual overlay laminations?

Try about .060.Thick enough to taper well with 2-4 layers and thin enough they won't tend to lift up.Stop them before the point where the bow starts to bend. Good Luck!!   Bob

Same as Bob, .050" to .060"  unless it is a handle pc.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Thanks guys. Was hoping to have the bow in the oven already, but plans were modified this morning.
