starting 2 bows this week
« on: August 17, 2009, 01:53:00 PM »
got some "wood" in this morning, a color and cut I have never seen used in a bow, will post a pic when I have it under clear glass. I will glue one up with an actionboo tapers and the other with red elm tapers. I bought enough glass and tapers from kennym to glue up 5 recurves before hunting season starts on Sept 26th..

I forgot to say that the risers will be Rosewood Actionwood and the veneers are crossgrain cut  Rosewood Actionwood. Going out to the shop now to cut out a riser, might get to glue one up tonite..

Nick your bows are awesome, glad you like the ones I'm puting together. So I had a change of plans, the riser blocks I got in the mail did not work out so I used a cocobolo block instead of the Actionwood...got it glued up last night and shaped the limbs, glued belly overlays and first tip overlays on, will finish tips and tiller tomorrow if time allows.. pic is of the bow (belly) fresh off of the form and edge sanded
