66" Greybark T/D Longbow-Success pg 3!
« on: August 24, 2009, 12:52:00 PM »
I just completed this bow yesterday, and I have been working on it here and there for the last month or so.  I think it is my best glass bow to date and I am really happy with it.  It is a Bingham T/D longbow...the limb make up and length just as the plan intended.  I suggest you guys/gals give this plan a try...I would say it is the best longbow design I have shot yet.

Final specs are:

66" NTN, 55# @ 28", 1.5" limbs

After all overlays, about 30 pieces of material.

We start with the riser.  Grey action wood + white glass + red phenolic + Rosewood

The Bingham templates. I usually glue these up to a piece of plexi glass or wood for future use.

Inlay the rosewood into the riser:

Almost tight enough:

Cut the angles.  I used my bandsaw this time as I did not prepare a jig on the tablesaw.  After the cut, I ensured the angles were flat by sanding on a flat surface:

I found it is much better to sand the fades prior to adjusting final width (to avoid excessive rounding of the edges):

Assembled in rough form.  Lined up great using the Bingham drilling jig.

Final finish sanded, ready for 2 sanding sealer coats of TB epoxy

Then 3 light spray coats, and a couple frost coats...still the best $10 I ever spent on a sprayer:

Great wood choices and finished product. I have to agree with you on that bow design- one of the better ones you can get. Thanks for the pictures.
