I can't believe the level of craftsmenship with the the tools you're using Nick - it's just fantastic!!

Almost makes me want to give an all wood bow a shot (heck I'm still working up the nerve to glue up a glass bow!   :D  )

It takes great natural talent to what you do the way you do it. You have a lot of great bows ahead of you.

thanks for the kind words!

as you obviously noticed, I'm poorly equipped  ;)  But that bandsaw's coming!! saved quite a bit for it, hope to find a nice powerfull one soon.

I'm going slow with this one, may finish a few other bows first. The fades are worrying me.

Impressive work, those tapers are really nice, and you're doing them free hand! But hey, get yourself some safety glasses, it's no fun having splinters pulled out of your eyes, I know! And they can get in there no matter which way the dust is flying - I learned that the hard way too. Keep up the great work. Kirk

Nick,

for how long have you been into building bows?
Looks like you've been a bowyer in your previous life, eh?  :D

Absolutely brilliant build along. Please can I have some more? I have about the same tools and would really like to progress to building laminated bows.

thanks guys!!

kirk, the tapering is pretty hard indeed, but it gets easier after a few attempts. Safety glasses for sure!! had a splinter in my eye not long ago, wich didn't want to get out... had tears over my face for a few hours, luckily the splinter was gone the very next day.

fatboy, right now I've made 42 bows, this one not included. the 30 I broke aren't included either   ;)

Toolslinger, you want some more? please be more specific   :)   I'd be glad to help you!

guys, Imma put some more pics of the tillering online tonight. The finishing pics might take a while, as I have some tests (school!!) coming up soon.

okay, were at tillering stage!!

For tillering I use mostly my scraper. If the bow's still wayy too stiff, and spokeshaving results in tearout, I grab another tool, my ugly but reliable anglegrinder. Utmost care is needed with this agressive tool!!!

I mark the places wich I want to bend more, remove some wood, and check again. This can take several hours, so I won't post pictures of every wood removal.

it appeared that I've cut through my bellyslat, so I'll go with one, a little thicker lam for the next time. This will give me a blank wich is almost ready to be shot once it's off the form.
