Tiger Stripped Pecan Riser, Mesquite Limbs
« on: October 12, 2009, 04:28:00 PM »
My little banjo playin pommy friend Dave's bow is just about finished.

She just needs a few more coats of finish and the information written on her.

Here are some updated pics I just took.

Mesqite belly.

The Pecan butt overlay on Mesquite back.

The belly and back altho both Mesquite came from 2 different boards so I ended up with a contrast from back to belly.

Axis Deer antler tip overlay, Dave opted to pay extra for the antler tip instead of Pecan/Phenolic tip overlays.

Here is how she is gonna look when put together.

I also still have got to put the felt on the riser under the limbs but thats the last thing I do after she gets buffed with 0000 steel wool and paste wax.

Final specs are 68" 57lb @ 27"

Shawn.

I found a small custom lumber yard close to my house, I had no idea he was there he is not even in the phone book. I got the Mesquite and Pecan from him.

I sent Kenny some of the Pecan so hopefully he should be able to get some good lams or risers out of it.

I love the Pecan in your bow, I have a riser from an old "Savora" bow I finished many many years ago and it looks quite bit like yours....raw beauty in just one piece of wood, the pic's cannot explain how good it really is I am sure.
When the finish is applied the tiger stripes just jump out.

Nice nice nice.................
