bamboo backing?

I was wondering if anyone has tried using two shorter pieces of boo joined at the handle when backing a bow.

It can be done, haven't done it myself.

i would think it would work, especially if you wanted to do a sleeve take-down system. that would be cool, IMO

I've done it also withoutg any problems.

When I did it I didn't let the handle bend at all, just in case.

I've also used 2 narrow strips side by side to back a wider slat.

You could put an overlay over the joint. Also, I have started using wrapped handles for my bows using hemp cord from Wally World and set it in Massey finish(2ton epoxy thinned with acetone). I first did this on a bow("Trouble Maker") a boo backed hickory(now a tri-lam with osage belly) that kept coming apart at the handle. Once I used the hemp wrap, never had the problem again.

I made a boo backed osage that came apart at the splice while gluing on the backing (starved joint). I cut it apart and respliced it basically cutting the backing in half along with the slats. Came out fine and to this date is shooting with no problems.
