Pink Pyramid for my Princess
« on: December 14, 2009, 11:30:00 AM »
I put the first coat of stain on my daughters pyramid bow.  It is drawing at 22 lbs at 20" and is 50" OAL (49" NTN).  2.5" at the fades tapered down to 3/8" at the tips and 9/32 thick through the limbs.

Planing a purple leather wrapped handle and purple yarn silencers.

This little bow shoots too.  Put a couple arrows into a target with the tillering string at 7 paces and they were nearly touching each other just above the bullseye.

Heh-heh, yeah I don't know what my problem is with 45 degree angles.

Dave has helped more than that with the use of his band saw and donation of purple hart for the nock overlays.

I've gotta find some matching arrows yet.  Right now she'll be shooting black shafts.

Those arrows are very nice.  I have yet to delve into making arrows.  I'm waiting until after Christmas befor purchasing any of the appropriate tools.

Dave is once again ahead of me on that score.

Nice bow!  I recognize that design from somewhere!  Was it easier the second time around?  Again, good work!

Yes, it was easier, but I also took my time a little more on this one.

It is a good design to work with.  My first attempt at making a bow for her ended in her crying when it broke during tillering.  This one is past that stage and already demonstrated working ability while it was still "in the white".

nice job doc!
arrows are so easy, you won't believe it.  WAY WAY less difficult than tillering a bow.
