Laminated bows

What does everyone use for the core wood in there lainated bows? and how do you layer them? I am making both longbows and recurves.

Tyler, Contact Bingham Projects for recipes and methods for the beginning bowyer. They have all the info you will need to build a successful lam bow. Once you get the processes down you can experiment with different materials and designs to achieve the bow(s) you want.
  There are as many different woods and designs as there are bowyers.

i use hard maple i went to the fancy lumber supply and boat yard, found a nice looking piece with strait grain that was about 10" by 2" by 40"  i think it is going to last me a long time!  I really like the "double recuve",  how does it shoot?

Tyler those are absolutley stunning.  I have made a few wooden bows, but favor the glass laminataed, much easier.  I truely admire all you wood bowyers.  Simpley awesome. Thanks for sharig.

Jess, not to be confused those were osagetree's bows.
Tyler is just starting and will be wanting help designing and making glass bows.( shop projects)

Tyler like Pat says Bingham's projects is a good place to start your research. I'd suggest shooting for about a 40 pound starter bow, besides it will probably come in heavier from my experience with the Bingham plans.

Oh yes the core wood is not critical. I think elm is good.Mostly pick woods that look good if using clear glass. With glass bows the glass and tapers do the work.
