FINALLY !!

Got started back into my shop!    

I didn't know I had so much junk! I'm gonna bring it into the shop from the back room on an as-needed basis. If I don't need it in 6 months,I probably won't!!

See the inspector on HER rug???

It kinda looks like a hospital or somethin tho!

I was needin bright and temp control!!

We insulated,plywooded, and painted!

-9 last nite,the temp this am was 45 with the heater on as low as it'll go! I'm lovin it!

I have wanted a shop like this for about 35 years!!  I am blessed!

Chuck,it is 22x30,12 ft ceiling.

Started as a pole barn, put 1" foam on the nailers a few years back,now have built walls between the posts and insulated,then 1/2" plywood and 20 gallons of paint!LOL

Hey that looks great Kenny!! I remember when I built my shop on my garage. I actually had room.    Now, well lets just say they aint ever big enough.    We had -14 here this last night and my heater only makes about 10 degrees difference.  :(  Congrats and enjoy the new shop Kenny. Nothin like a man cave!!!!

Sounds good Kenny.On my original shop I just put 1.5 foam on the outside(polebarn). when I added the small addition I built the walls in between the post like you did, That is the way to go. I scabed some scrap OSB off our jobsites for a while and put that on the inside. It took me 47 peices to do what I could have with just 8.5 full sheets of osb. But it was FREE, and you can't tell now that the many,many,many coats of paint are on.(amazed me at the amount of paint that osb can suck-up).
   That looks good and I am having fun planning my new build. Thanks again for sharing.

I'm also planning a shop. 20 x 30. I got a quote for $12,000. It is hard to belive but that is with a wood floor! It would be $2,700 cheaper with a concrete floor! Its just too far(for a pump truck) and too soft to get a truck back where I need it.

Can't speak for Kenny but I can tell you that the reason I did twelve foot ceilings was to make it easier to move long wood around.  I can pick up a piece of plywood or an 8 or ten foot long piece of lumber and swing it willy nilly around and not have to worry anymore about knocking one of the lights out of the park.

Beautiful work Kenny.  I am close to where you are but I still need to make about forty feet of cabinets.

That's a great shop Kenny.  Nice to have all that room.  I'm fortunate to have a big (30 x 27) unfinished room in my basement.  Can't quite explain why it's so full of junk, but I'm gonna purge and finish half of it into a real shop.  I have my bench and tools set up kind of in one corner... If I get organized I'll have more time to work on bows, right?   Man, I need some dust control.  How do you wear a dust mask AND reading glasses at the same time?

I think there was a thread last winter where people sent in photos of their shops.  Is that still around?

What's a good place to get advice on shop/space design and layout?

Just put power in my shop and makes a BIG difference from a cord from house out.

Come this spring this place will be finished insulating and drywall. Next comes the cabinets and organize the place, Can not wait. MAN CAVE!!!

Wish I did the 12 foot as you did and would have put a hoist in to.

Nice shop. You need to show pictures in 6 months.

Chuck, I also used OSB in my little shop for interior walls and ceiling, I put a sealer on it first then the paint. when I built a partition wall inside to make the 7 x 11 glue up room I used 2 coats of "Kilz" paint and it worked without the sealer.

Jim,it started out as my farm shop,I liked the 12 '  ceiling for board clearance as mentioned,so I kept it.

Heck,I can still wheel a tractor in if needed.
