Halibut Skinned Yew
« on: January 18, 2010, 10:41:00 PM »
This bow has been a long slow journey. I started back in 2008 .. Due to multiple surgeries this one had been set aside several times. Though its heavy for me now I hope to be able to work back up to the draw weight eventually. I had a hard time hitting full draw but tried to get close for the pic. So here she is.
This is a Yew flat bow with Halibut skin and waterbuffalo horn tips. It is 60" tip to tip and is 64# at 25".      Keenan

Nice work, Keenan! I really like those halibut skins.  I've never seen anyone use them for backing before.  Is it a pretty tough skin or is it more for decoration?  Cool bow! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thank you Kenny.

Thank you Matt. Halibut is tough and it will add some protection. Not as tough as sturgeon however.

Fantastic work.  Patience is a virtue that often leads to a great bow!

Keenan, I have been on hiatus also in the bow making department too. It's time to start making curls again. I have a handful of projects started already; a Hazlenut from BrianB that is ready to be tillered, for starts. That will probably be my Renaissance bow for this next rebirth. d;^)
