BBEO
« on: January 19, 2010, 08:42:00 AM »
Just glued up a boo backed, elm cored osage bellied longbow with TBIII. The elm taper was from some packing sent with some of KennyM's lams. I also put a super thin taper of osage he also sent as packing. The elm looks like a .002 taper that is .135 at the butt end. The thin osage is more of an asthetic experiment and is like .020 at the butt end. I put it between the boo and the zebrawood power lam.

The osage parallel I ripped off of a 36" board and is .173 for a total of .328 plus the boo. All the lams were skivejointed  together with super glue.

Right now it is 67.5" tip to tip. I have it trimmed to just outside width dimensions and will glue on the handle lams today.

It is basically floor tillered now. Not sure what kind of weight this one will pull. Maybe 45-50? Might have to pike it some we'll see.

This is an experimental bow. I wanted to try TBIII to see how it would do. I've read of several people using it with good results.

I'll get some pics today. I'm going to go take it out of the clamps. I glued the handle on yesterday. Two pieces of zebrawood with a piece of cocobolo in the middle.

Well the tiller is wacked on this one! One limb is almost straight in the outer third while the other has a nice curved reflex while unstrung. While strung the straight limb bends way too much. I'm not sure why. I think it will take a LOT of scraping of the other limb.

I'm guessing it will be around 30-35 lbs. I know a young lad that will love it.
