Kustom King fiberglass

Is anybody using the glass Kustom King is importing from Europe? If so what is the quality like? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Ron, I ordered a couple of strips of the.030" to try out. Also ordered the BearPaw carbon.  I will post back when it is in a bow!

I would be interested in hearing about this as well...Dan on the BearPaw, did it come sanded 2 sides, or was it designed as a backing (sanded 1 side).

Dang, I didnt know they had glass. If it works good it's cheaper than Binghams bulk prices!

Part of me says, dont fix what isnt broke though.

I got a couple of strips to try out. It is advertised that you can drop almost .010 and still get the same stiffness which should increase speed  . You can also buy it in 300 + ft. rolls. I am wondering about the clarity but we shall see. Bearpaw is also coming out with a carbon backing.

300' rolls? Where do you buy that? Through Bearpaw?

Jason , You can buy from Kustom King. I think they are one of a few dealer in the states for Bearpaw. The rolls are in the 2010 KK catalog and they come in 328 ft . rolls.

Several years ago I experimented with that Canadian glass which was a mistake. I won't leave Gordan glass until they quit making it.

The carbon has the look that is used by Black Swan.

I received mine today and talked to Tim about it a bit before I did a little testing.

I havent tried it in a bow yet but I think I may save it for kids bows. Unlike Gordans, when I uncoiled it out of the box it maintained a memory, I put it on my shelf over an hour ago and the glass is still way up in the air on the ends. Gordons drops flat and seems a lot stiffer.

I cut off 4" off each, applied epoxy to the sanded side and held it up the the light. The .040 ULS gordans I have always used was so clear I could even make out the details of the fine scrim in the middle. The KK Stuff is foggy and streaky all the way though the .040

This may all change when glued up in a bow with pressure applied but if you decide to try it out, use a light colored core for the test.

I received the glass and the "Composite" strip today.  Building up a riser as we speak.  Since I have a bow to finish for my nephew, it will be a few days before I test it.  

Don't know exactly how I am going the use the composite strip yet.  It looks like it is designed to be used as a backing and not sandwiched in the stack.  Any suggestions?

I was told by KK that the speed tuff is to be used sandwiched in the stack and not for backing.

I would think it would be sanded both sides if it were to be used as an interior lamination.
