65" glass flatbow.....build along

I made this bow over the holidays and just finished it up with the arrow rest and string tongight. It is 65" ntn, 58# @ 28". Here comes 38 pictures!
Starting with the riser. Cocobolo with an osage saddle. Black glass and zebrawood seperating the two. The riser is 18.5" long fade to fade.
The last rubber band glue up. It works great, but I am going all airhose from here on out.

Ever so slight R/D
Marked center and used the circle guage to scale out the limbs. I first was going to make a 68" bow, but to gain some pounds I dropped it to 65"

Now check out the butt joint...The back of this bow is actually .030 of carbon fiber (which I only had in 36" lengths. I wanted to make a thin grip and I like the look and added strength the front overlays add...so I needed to get rid of that butt joint. So I took it to the 36 grit drum sander and ate though to the coco...then made an even arc across the front to glue on my overlays...it was an experiment, but I think it looks pretty good.
Now for back overlays..osage and white glass

It shoots fairly well..one of the quietest bows I've made. I really like the thin grip..its about 4 3/8 in circ. This is the 4th and final bow I made on the form...its in the hands of another tradganger now.

Another nice one Brad! Seems the less d/r or curves you build into em,the easier they are to quiet! JMO

Great looking bow. I hope to be at that level someday.
A real functional piece of art.

Wow,
You guys that makes these bows make me so jealous, you've got more talent in your pinky than I've got in my whole body. I really admire what you guys do. I hope some day I could pull off an acomplishment like that!

thanks Brad...now I know what a bow looks like off my new form.
You do need to show how you do those tips.
