G'day guys,I'm new 'round these parts and a fair distance from you all.I hail from all the way down under,Melbourne,Australia to be exact! !
I'm interested in making a deflex/reflex bamboo backed bow.I've looked at a few build-alongs and they look sweet as!!
Been checking out the local Bunnings(our version of Home Depot :D )for bamboo.Which they sell in large diameters as some sort of fancy arty-farty garden water pipe!! I'm hoping to make a bow around 66'' 45#-50# @28,I'm gonna use Spotted Gum as the belly timber.Alot of Aussie guys use this stuff for self bows with great succes.
My questions are these:
What sort of thickness of bamboo are you fellas backing your bow's with?
Is the boo tapered or parrallel in thickness?
What is the best glues to use?
Will titebond II sufice or is a two part epoxy the way to go?
Sorry for bombarding you all with question.I hope someone can steer me in the right direction!!
Cheers
James
