'Dusty' glass ....
« on: February 09, 2010, 10:05:00 PM »
One of my bows has clear glass on the limbs that looks 'dusty'.  Almost a 'satin' kind of finish.  Wet a cloth or you finger and rub the glass and it clears-up, but when it dries it looks dusty again.

Is there a way to polish the finish to get rid of that 'dusty' look?

Wouldn't hurt to rub it down with steel wool or better yet 180 or higher grit sand paper and spray a couple coats of helsman spar urathane over it. It would only take 30 mins to lightly sand it just enough to rough the surface and another hour to spray it two coats. Let it sit a day to dry. Or you could apply a few coats of true oil instead of spar. I would go the spar route becaue it is more durable and easier/faster.
