Can you post more pics/info about the asiatic bow at the bottom of page one? The 48" one with the full draw picture. It looks sweet and I would like to know how to make my own.

I finally finished this bow for a good friend of mine. I haveposted pics of it earlier. After all adjustments, sanding and a finish it came in at 45@27. It was finished on my friends birthday. I just finished the leather grip over the custom fitted finger grooves.

nice bows. I have been out of the shop for a nit, but I'll get back soon with all this eye candy.

Going from left to right.
Red oak board backed with linen.  Got it to 45@28".  Craked in bottom limb.

Red Oak board backed with black walnut.  22@ 28".  Too light for hunting.

Red oak board backed with thrift store necktie.  broke at 24" on tiller stick.

Red oak board no backing.  Broke trying to put regular string on it.

Elm sapling no backing.  Hinge got me.

Five trys and 4 failures and one partial success. On a positive note I've learned quite a bit so far.

Hey Guys,
I'm trying to finish up my first board bow (actually, my first bow of any kind...).  I took it to an archery shop to get a draw weight reading that would be more accurate than my crappy bathroom scale.  The guy there pulled the string back a couple of times and said he could feel the handle bending - and recommended that I wrap the handle out past the fades with some leather shoe laces.

For those of you who have broken bows, what do you think - good advice?  How dangerous is it to shoot a suspect bow?

I'm hoping to get to 47# @ 28", right now I'm at 45# @23" and have not pulled it past 24".

Thanks for any input,
Wood

This is from my attempt to set a personal record in Norwegian Flightshooting. The bow is a 60# extreem Holmegaard, made of Beech. As u see, it broke on full draw..

Hi Moen, that looks quite impressive, almost like the bow exploded. Hope you didn't get hurt by parts of it flyin' around. Like the expression on your face ( uhh, holy sh.. ) LOL.

I love this thread both cause i get to see all the great bows made and cause it makes me feel better about my breaks. Can't wait to get home and post pics of the failures and successes this year.    :goldtooth:
