« on: February 19, 2010, 04:20:00 PM »
Hi Here are two bows I made this year. 1st is 64" flatbow 45# @ 28" made from Hophornbeam. The 2nd is a bamboo backed osage longbow with ebony power lamination and handle accent. It has horn nocks. It's 65" 48# @ 28"

Very nice!

What part of PA are you from and where did you get the osage?  Osage is pretty hard to find where I'm at in PA.

I understand there are Osage trees in MT PLEASANT, PA. Floks call them "monkey ball trees". I just got an Osage from my neighbor too. We are in Bedford county PA.

Hi I live in Ivyland pa. Bucks Co. I picked up this pc. of osage at Dixon's gunmakers fair. Theres a gun stock dealer that some times brings a couple of pcs. with him. It was a nice of 1/4 sawn. Paid $55.00 for it and got 3 bows out of it. There is some that grows locally but havn't been able to get permission to cut any. Scott

Nice bows,
I'm a PA transplant, living in Idaho,  I remember the osage also being called Horse apple trees in Huntingdon.
