Does anyone make a Meare Heath Flatbow?

Does anyone know of plans to make a meare heath flat bow? Would like to try and build one...I am a wood butcher so any help would be appreciated.

If you look at a lot of their bows, beyond this page, you'll notice a lot seem to be made unbacked from 1/4 sawn or rift sawn stock. Anyway, their Meare Heath page ought to at least give you some ideas of how to go about it. Do you have The Bowyer's Bible books? I think it might be the second volume that has some info on the Prehistoric European bows. There's some general info on the Meare Heath in there.

2" wide, semi-ridgid handle, 66-68" long, riftsawn or quartersawn white wood...be cool

Hi Terry

I am currently shooting a Meare Heath type bow made by Hilary Greenland. It im a wonderfull design when made well. You can find info on making one in Hilary's book The Traditional Archers Handbook (ISBN 0 9524 627 6 1) its worht having even if you dont make the bow,the chapter on arrows is worth it alone. Should be able to get it on amazon. The original Meare Heath was dug up just a few miles away from where i live on the somerset levels.
