Herter's 46"- Completed, pg 4-5
« on: March 24, 2010, 07:49:00 PM »
A while back I asked if anyone had any specs on a Herter's Perfection 46" bow or a Wright Stalker...Well I attained some great specs from you guys and made the form.

After a quick shipment from Kenny on some actionwood and angle cut lams, I got one glued up.  Here is where I have it now. If I get some time to get some overlays on I might have something to shape on Sunday.

It draws nicer than I thought, but the same old story with me...a little too light.  I am guessing it is around 44# or so.  I tried to draw it back a bit for a pic.  I love the looks of this little bow though. In the pics below it has about a 8.5" braceheight of where the grip will eventually be.

Man, you've got ambition!  Great little bow!  Always like looking at your work.  Keep it up.

Thanks guys.  I like this little sucker.  I think this bow design would really benefit with a uniweft lam in the middle adding some lateral stability.

Really neat.  The sweeping limbs remind me of cape buffalo horns, simply outstanding.  That will make a great blind bow for turkeys etc.

thats a cool looking form and bow, I'll bet the lams are going to look awesome. How far are you drawing it? I have a 26 1/4" draw and I'm thinking about building a 56" forward riser recurve form next month..

I'd say the limbs in the pic are as if they are at a 28" draw.  Its probably only 26" in the pic, but the grip is not formed yet...that will deepen the deepeest part of the grip about 2" from the block form it is in now.

Cool design. I have made a simular, a Wright D-Bow copy, but with no success. Have you paralell or taper limbs? (I used parallel)

I used two tapered laminations, both tapered at .001 per inch.
