Would this be a good by on bamboo. Here is the Clist add
http://fayar.craigslist.org/grd/1733836610.html
Some of you BB? let me know if this is worth looking at and what to look for. I have only built a few laminated(sp) bows and would like to do something with less overhead.
Thanks for your help

For a boo backed bow you would be better off getting your boo from a reliable source.

Looks like the supplier is in Fayetteville NC. I wouldn't buy any sight unseen but depending on the type it may be good stuff. You want 4" or larger.
I get the same type of bamboo locally. Completely failure free in about 12 years of using it.

Just a few bamboo varieties get over 3" in diameter. Mosa is the one that is most common. The guy I got mine from says it is giant timber bamboo.
I have used several types of unknown variety bamboo grown locally and all worked just fine.
The thing about local bamboo is you have control of the curing process if you buy it green.
The last bundle I bought from a major supplier arrived moldy and waterlogged.

I purchased bamboo slats on **** 25 slats 1.75 X 6 foot average about 1/4". cost was $97.00 delivered, that is $4 each. Built 6 bows and this stuff worked great. Go to ****, type in bamboo slats.
