Birthday Bow for Buddy-finished pics
« on: June 12, 2010, 07:37:00 PM »
A few years ago I built a buddy of mine a 54" recurve as a  x-mas present. He has been hinting about getting a longbow that will match the recurve and has a birthday next month--so I thought I would put one together for him- shooting for a 45# bow. Here is a picture of the recurve:

The recurve riser is bocote and bloodwood so I thought I would use those in the long bows riser too.

Got the pieces laid out and ready for glue up.

And into the form.

Cleaned up out of the form and finding the center with a string.

Got the limbs marked then shaped to test for twists and such.

Looks good so far-

Really like that wood combo. Great job

My birthday is in July. There's no need to rush though. I can wait till August if I have
to.  :bigsmyl:

I got all of the rough shaping done- now on to the final leg of the project- detail sanding and applying the finish- my bud's b-day is next month so I won't have to rush it at this point. Don't think I'll have enough time to get bows made for everyone else's birthdays this time around...lol
