Cutting nocks
« on: February 13, 2008, 09:05:00 AM »
A while ago there was a thread on how to cut the nocks on a bow so they became the same on each side of the bowtip. I believe Eric Krewson showed a good way to do this. Does anyone remember the name of that thread? Thank you. Bue--.

Bue,
Don't remember the name, but I remember the technique.  Cut grooves on the back, string up the bow to brace height and mark the lay of the string with a pencil.  Unstring and file away!
You can try searching for Eric Krewson's recent post's as well, that might get you what you need.

Don't cut grooves on the back of the bow. Makes a great place for the tip to break  or a sliver  to  lift  at full  draw.  I made a marking gauge with 45-degree shoulder to  mark  the tips. Gauge has two  shoulders for left and right sides of the tip.
