How to remove snakeskins
« on: July 07, 2010, 12:20:00 PM »
I have a set of morrison carbon foam ILF limbs that have watersnake skins on them. How do you remove the skins? I have a set of copperheads I want to put on them.
Thanks

depends on the glue used. if it was titebond or hide glue then heat would normally do it, but im not sure at what temp the epoxy used to laminate the bow breaks down at.you might just have to get something under an edge and work carefully to peel them.

I have removed several by sanding and scraping carefully but this was off a selfbow. I only removed the skin and glue and barely touched the wood.

I'd call Bob himself and ask him what to do.  I'm sure he knows how the skins were applied (assuming he did the job) and would have more insight into how to remove them.
