Old Self Bow out of Traditional Bowyers Bible Vol.1
« on: July 09, 2010, 07:46:00 AM »
I have heard some people ask if self bows would last for very long so I decided to show off a couple.

In these videos you'll see two bows.

One is a "plum Limb" bow made by Tim Baker. I got this bow from Tim at the very 1st MoBoJam in 1999.
That would make this an old self bow but in reality its older than 1999.

The "plum" bow appears in Volume 1 of the Traditional Bowyers Bible so it had to be made by Tim before TTB went to print.
You can judge for yourself if it's still a good shooting little bow.

The second bow was made by L.E. Stemmler out of New York somewhere between 1915 and 1920. I got this bow for my to-be-grand daughter Brindlee.
She will be here sometime between now and July 30th.. according to the powers that be. But she looks like she could show up at any time now..lol

Thanks for watching!

God bless,Mudd

From the vids, it looks like your short drawing alot.  Any reason why?

The draw on this bow wasn't ever intended to be 28".

It was designed at be shot like a pony bow. The size of the bow isn't any indication of its draw weight either. I haven't actually put it on a scale but I'm guessing well over 50# at 20".

When you combine all that with my poor shooting style, that's just what it looks like.

Thanks for viewing and you question.

Thanks for the bow compliment. I just checked the weight on it and it's 44@20. I shot it at about 35 yds from my back deck to the target, all 3 arrows are going to take some finding. I shot over it all 3 shots..lol

I thought I was holding low enough that I might hit just above the ground...not!!

Thanks Jwge! I've found one of my arrows so far!. That lil Plum bow has some spunk! I got it just so I'd have one that was published and made by one of the authors of the book.
