Flemish twist string help please

Ive got a no name brand recurve that my father in law is letting me play with with, its a 62" 40# at 26 and I am trying to make a string for it.  I have read all the tutorials and watched the videos I can find and I still cant get one right.  I made my jig to the specs on our how to forum and have b50 string.  I am making 2 bundles of 6 strands and i can get the loops made and tight and get it twisted for an initial brace height but the tapered ends keep coming unraveld and my string slips to the point of being useless.  Can someone clue me into what i might be doing wrong it seems so simple but yet it eludes me.  Thanks for the help

Chad, one of the most common mistakes is overthinking the second loop.
Guys think, "If I made that one twisting this way, then this one has to twist that way."
If you do that, the string will fall apart.
Just make both loops exactly the same way... Exactly, the same way.

That may be one of my problems Guy and thanks for the advice but looking at other peoples strings there are not little ends from the taper cut coming unroaveled like i get when i twist the loops and i think that is part of my problem.  Are you supposed to twist the individual string bundles prior to making the loops or leave them straight untill after both loops are made when you twist the string for brace height adjustment?

the individual bundles are twisted together and then twisted into the loops at the ends. all the twist tension is what holds the strings together.

Chad...   I'm a firm believer in reading or watching as many different sources as possible to learn anything.  You never know which one will set off the spark.  Took me about four different sources before I got it.   My tomorrow just kind of got canceled on me, so I have some time on my hands and I'm wanting to play with the video feature on my camera.  I'll do some twisting and see if I can't get it recorded.   Send me a direct email and if I come up with something I'll send you a copy.  I'm sure it won't be anything you can't find on-line now, but at least it will be one more input and I'll try to do a close focus on just my hands and the twisting.

Well guys I figured out my problem, I was twisting the string after I Made both loops the wrong way.  This obviously caused my loops to slip and my string to stretch.  I finished my first one put it on and 20 shots later no unraveling and very minor stretch so I think I got the hang of it.   Thanks for all the help and advice.

glad you got it figured out. i pre stretch my strings before i use them, loop them over a vice handle then to a clamp attached to a turnbuckle that i turn till i get about 45 lbs of pressure. let it set overnight. usually no stretch after that.
