« on: July 15, 2010, 02:45:00 PM »
After I cure a bow I have moisture/water inside my heat box. Is this normal. Do any of you guys have ventalation or a mini-fan inside your box. Thanks.............James

The Heat box for drying staves etc. needs
ventilation. I've added a muffin fan to move moisture out and let the end opposite cracked.

I drilled a 1" hole in the top of one end and another in the bottom at the other end to allow the moisture to escape. If I'm using it to cure glue I plug the holes.   A small fan inside the box to circulate the air will help dry wood better and eliminate the excess moisture.

100 deg(F) or less will suffice for the hot box. With hickory you can go down to 6% but with all other woods you want between 9% and 11%.
