Longbow plans from Popular Mechanics
« on: July 22, 2010, 04:00:00 PM »
Has anybody seen these plans before:

For the more experienced bowyers on the site, are these viable plans to follow?

I've never seen them but certainly viable.

I like the piece that says "a stave of lemonwood for a longbow will cost you about a dollar"

I think I would buy out that supplier!

I posted some several years ago taken from a PM encyclopedia from the 50's, but I haven't seen this version.  It included plans for osage, yew, lemonwood, and an unknown wood called "boam." Thanks for sharing!

These will probably be good bows. I'm sure these designs could be improved upon but they should work fine just the way they are.

That's awesome. I just bought the encyclopedias that's from from a garage sale for $2. Those books are so cool they have a motor powered boat you can build out of plywood. Looks like a stage with a pulpit but pretty cool none-the-less.
