Looking for a specific buildalong
« on: August 07, 2010, 06:01:00 PM »
Hello,

I remember some time ago seing a buildalong for a very beautifull BBI bow, where specifically the handle was extremely well done. It had a dark/light handle, with different layers of wood - and (what I am after) the use of sandwiched wood as a single layer. (One of the laminations was actually made up of shifting light/dark wood). The process involved gluing up small bricks of light/dark wood, and then finally cutting this block to get a "pattern" lamination.

Does any one remember this, have a link, or a name of the bowyer that made that bow?

(I know it is not much to work with, but I hope that someone can help   :help:
Kind Regards

Pierce points, developed by Jerry Pierce were intricate patterns made by lam and cut and lam and cut and lam. Mr. Pierce is dead but his points live on. There are a few commercial bowyers using this technique in their risers. Do a search for Pierce points.

Search mosaic stripe in the pow wow forum. You will find a topic called 'riser and mosaic stripe build along'. I think this is what you are looking for. Good luck, Mike
