Deft and fletching tape?
« on: August 09, 2010, 02:26:00 PM »
Usually finish my arrows with poly but have a quart of Deft. Anyone used Deft on their arrows and then fletched with fletching tape. As pricy as feathers are, I can't afford to make a mistake. Thanks, Don

Yep, do it all the time.  I use Deft, Watco, Old Masters, and Minwax spray lacquer often, depending on who has the best deal.  I assume you're talking about Deft lacquer, correct?  Just be sure that you either dap the front and back with fletch-tite or gel CA glue, or dap the back and bind the front as such:

"Walk softly...and carry a bent stick."

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through him."  Col. 3:17

Thanks 4est trekker, I have a quart of the lacquer that I was going to do bows with. I ended up using the spray instead. I will try to do a rub finish and use the tape. I have poly but need to use the Deft up. Usually put a drop of Duco at each end. Thanks again, Don
