Bow Lenght vs Bow Weight ?
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:12:00 AM »
If I built a new riser section for a TD bow so that it's lenght increased by several inch..

a) will the poundage go up or down?

b) if up can the limbs handle the added weight?

I'm assuming longer the poundage drops and shorter the poundage increases.

THanks Guys

In my experience,

a)  Adding an inch to the riser length (all other things being equal) will raise the poundage 3# - 3.5#

b) Most likely, but of course it all depends on the bow (I doubt for example, you are going to add 8-10 inches to a childs bow to try to raise the poundage by 25-35#)

good luck

Chopping the limbs 2" (1" on each side) will increase the poundage by 4-5#

I think if the limbs stay the same length but the riser gets longer the # will drop. This means the bow overall length increases too. If the overall length stays the same but the riser gets longer it would increase #.
