"Sunset" bbi
« on: September 10, 2010, 02:46:00 PM »
Hello!

I finally got one to hold together after my two HBI failures.  This time I used bamboo backing and Resorcinol.  I cleaned the boards with acetone after roughing up with a hacksaw blade.  I used osage and ipe for the handle lams and osage for the tips.  Can't tell with the dye, though.

Here are the stats:
      52#@27"
      62"ntn
      24oz. mass
fairly radical r/d starting with 5" total glued-in reflex and 2.5" remaining at rest
rit dye/denatured alcohol fading from black to yellow

I recently learned that rit-dye tends to fade in the sun.  That didn't make me happy to find out, but I guess I'll see how it holds up over time.  I love how it shoots!  It's quiet even without the string silencers and I barely feel any hand shock.  I'll try to borrow a chronograph sometime in the future.

Thanks for looking!
~John
